ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)(a)
THE A5 AND A458 TRUNK ROADS (SHREWSBURY,
SHROPSHIRE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company
Limited (Company No. 9346363) has made an order on the
A5 and A458 Trunk Roads, at Shrewsbury, in the County of
Shropshire, to allow signage renewal works to be carried out.
The effect of the Order will be to close –
a) the A458 Welshpool Road from its roundabout junction
with the A5, known as Churncote Roundabout, to a point
91 metres east of the centrepoint of its junction with that
roundabout;
b) the layby adjacent to the northbound carriageway of the
A5 approximately 300 metres south of the centrepoint of
Churncote Roundabout;
c) the layby adjacent to southbound carriageway of the A5
approximately 100 metres north of the centrepoint of
Churncote Roundabout;
d) the bus stop area adjacent to the northbound carriageway
of the A5 just north of its junction with the unnamed road
that leads to Shrawardine; and
e) the bus stop area adjacent to the southbound carriageway
of the A5 opposite its junction with the unnamed road that
leads to Shrawardine.
The layby and bus stop area closures will be carried out overnight,
on weekdays only, between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and
are expected to start on Monday 14 June 2021 and continue
for approximately three months. The carriageway closure will be
carried out overnight between 20:00 hours and 06:00 hours and is
expected to start on Tuesday 7 September 2021 and continue for
three nights. The Order will come into force on 11 June 2021.
Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or
ambulance purposes, and vehicles being used in connection
with the works will be exempt from the closures. Access to
properties will be maintained at all times.
Diversion routes via the A5 Bayston Hill Roundabout,
the A5112 and the B4380, and vice versa, will be signed.
