THE HIGHLAND COUNCIL
The Council has made The Highland Council (Temporary Traffic Prohibition)
(Various Roads, Glenurquhart, Inverness-shire) (Amendment Number 2)
Order 2024 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and related legislation,
to temporarily prohibit traffic from using the U1632 Limekiln Road, Milton,
Drumnadrochit, commencing at its junction with the A833 Milton – Phoineas
(Brochies Corner) Road and extending in a generally northerly direction to its
termination at a distance of 1528 metres, or thereby, and also from using the U1644
Achtemarack Road, Glenurquhart, commencing at its junction with the private
forestry access leading to Dalreach (Ordnance Survey Grid Reference: Eastings
246607, Northings 831275) and extending in a generally northerly direction to
its junction with the private access leading to the property called ‘New House’
(Ordnance Survey Grid Reference: Eastings 246767, Northings 831635).
This Order extends the duration of the temporary traffic prohibition, which was
originally introduced under ‘The Highland Council (Temporary Traffic Prohibition)
(Various Roads, Glenurquhart, Inverness-shire) Order 2024’ (the ‘‘Principal Order’’)
and which came into effect at 08:00 hours on Monday 22 July 2024.
The duration of the Principal Order was extended until 18:00 hours on Friday 13
December 2024 under ‘The Highland Council (Temporary Traffic Prohibition) (Various
Roads, Glenurquhart, Inverness-shire) (Amendment) Order 2024’.
The effect of this Order is to further extend the duration of the Principal Order until
18:00 hours on Friday 31 January 2025.
The closure is required in the interests of public safety during public utility
infrastructure works and will apply when a prohibition is identified by means of one
or more of the appropriate temporary traffic signs as prescribed in the ‘Traffic Signs
Regulations and General Directions 2016’. Local access, including pedestrian access,
will be maintained at the discretion and on the instruction of the contractor for the
works, while signed diversions for vehicular traffic will be in place. Any enquiries
