PEDESTRIAN ZONE – PRIDE HILL AND
BUTCHER ROW, SHREWSBURY
On 23 May 2019 Shropshire Council made an order to introduce a Pedestrian
Zone on the following roads in Shrewsbury:
• The entire length of Pride Hill.
• Butcher Row - from its junction with Pride Hill for a distance of 40 metres in a
south-easterly direction.
The Pedestrian Zone will comprise the following traffic restrictions:

• Prohibition of all vehicles (this includes cycles) between 10am and 4pm;
• Outside these times vehicles may enter the Zone to access premises, and to
load and unload;

PLACES) (CONSOLIDATION) ORDER 2009 (PRIDE HILL AND
BUTCHER ROW, SHREWSBURY) (AMENDMENT) ORDER 2019
• Prohibition of parking at any time. In this case the prohibition also applies to
vehicles displaying the disabled persons’ blue badge;
These restrictions will replace any and all existing similar restrictions on these
lengths of roads.
These orders will come into effect on 28 May 2019.
Copies of the orders may be examined during normal office hours (8:45am-
5:00pm Monday to Thursday, and 8:45am-4:00pm on Fridays) at Shropshire
Council, The Shirehall, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury SY2 6ND.
If you wish to question the validity of either Order, or any provisions in them, on
the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by The Road Traffic
Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any
instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Orders,
you may, within six weeks from 23 May 2019, apply for that purpose to the
High Court.
