ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984
THE ABERDEEN CITY COUNCIL (OFF-STREET CAR
PARKS, ABERDEEN) (VARIATION) ORDER 2024
Aberdeen City Council has made the above-named order
in terms of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation
Act 1984. The effect of the order, which will come into
operation on 1 October 2024, is to vary the means of
payment of parking charges at Aberdeen City Council Off-
Street Car Parks, namely Chapel Street, Denburn, West
North Street, Virginia Street, Frederick Street, Gallowgate,
Marischal College, Summer Street, Golden Square (inner
circle), Broomhill Road and Fonthill.
Specifically, the variation provides for new payment
machines, where as opposed to issuing a ticket for display
on the parked vehicle, the customer inputs the vehicle
registration and duration of stay, with the subsequent
payment (by the input of coins) being recorded on an
electronic payment system; that’s to say, a City Warden
will be able to check payment has been made by way
of the vehicle registration and a record of payment for
parking on the electronic payment system.
At the off-street car parks concerned, one, or a combination
of, the following means of payment for the relevant charge
will be available: - (i) Pay by phone / App; (ii) Payment
machine, by input of vehicle registration, duration of stay,
and coins for relevant charge; (iii) Ticket issuing machine,
by input of coins for relevant charge.
