NOTICE OF ELECTION
Election of a Councillor
• One Councillor is to be elected for the Elgin City South Ward of the
Moray Council.
• Nomination forms can be obtained from the Election Office at Moray Council,
Council Offices, High Street, Elgin, IV30 1BX by downloading a pack from
www.moray.gov.uk/elections, calling 01343 563334 or email elections@moray.gov.uk.
• Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer at Moray Council, Council Offices,
High Street, Elgin, IV30 1BX by prior appointment only between the hours of 10.00am - 4.00pm
on any working day after the date of this notice but no later than 4.00pm on Monday 7 October
2024. Call 01343 563334 or email elections@moray.gov.uk for an appointment.
• An election will be held in the contested ward and voting will take place between 7.00am and
10.00pm on Thursday 7 November 2024.
• Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Woodhill House,
Westburn Road, Aberdeen, AB16 5GE by 12 midnight on Tuesday 22 October 2024. Applications
can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Postal or proxy voting
• Applications for, or amendments of, postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer, at
the below noted address by 5.00pm on Wednesday 23 October 2024. Details and postal vote
application forms are available at www.votemoray.org.
• Cancellation of postal or proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the below
noted address by 5.00pm on Wednesday 23 October 2024. Details at are available at
www.votemoray.org.
• Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the
below noted address by 5.00pm on Wednesday 30 October 2024. Details and proxy appointment
application forms are available at www.votemoray.org.
• Applications to vote by emergency proxy made after the 30 October proxy deadline
on the grounds of;
• disability suffered after the deadline (or, for applicants who suffered a disability before the deadline,
their disability meant they could not reasonably have made an application in time),
• work/service reasons; apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware
they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5.00pm on Wednesday 30 October 2022,
• being detained in a hospital under the civil sections of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment)
(Scotland) Act 2003.
• being sentenced to a period of detention of 12 months or less,
• where a proxy voter, who is not voting by post, is unable to attend the polling station, the elector can
replace the appointed proxy. must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at below noted address
by 5.00pm on Thursday 7 November 2024.
