Town and Country Planning
LISTED BUILDINGS AND CONSERVATION AREAS
(SCOTLAND) ACT 1997
THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING (CONTROL OF
ADVERTISEMENTS) (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 1984
Notice of Publication of Documents
Aberdeen City Council has prepared and published a Draft City
Centre Conservation Area Character Assessment. Conservation
Area Character Appraisals provide an opportunity to involve
communities in identifying the different characteristics and important
elements of their Conservation Area, and in defining appropriate
boundaries. Under the above noted Regulations, an associated
proposal for a ‘Regulation 11’ Direction to remove deemed consent
for large ‘To Let / For Sale’ signs in the City Centre Conservation
Area has also been prepared and published.
The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 requires the Council to
consider whether publishing a document or making available
a document for inspection may give rise to a significant risk of
the transmission of coronavirus, or is likely to be ineffective or
inappropriate due to action taken in order to control the incidence
or transmission of coronavirus. This Act, as well as UK and
subordinate legislation, requires us to promote the national policy of
social/physical distancing. This has a direct impact on a number of
statutory and non-statutory duties which the Council would normally
carry out in undertaking consultation on documents and proposals
of this type. As such, there will be no public meetings or drop-in
sessions for the duration of social/physical distancing policy as they
may give rise to a significant risk of the transmission of coronavirus.
Where possible, correspondence, communication and publicity
(including public inspection of documents) will therefore be by
electronic means.
