Argyll and Bute Council DEVELOPMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES NOTICE UNDER SECTION 103E OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1973 An online meeting of Argyll and Bute Council was held at 10.30am on Tuesday 30 June 2020 which considered a report by the Accounts Commission and its findings in respect of the Argyll and Bute Council Statutory Best Value Report. The detailed report and findings are available for inspection on the council’s website at https://www.argyll-bute.gov. uk/best-value-3-report and in hard copy by writing to Douglas Hendry at Council Headquarters, Kilmory, Lochgilphead PA31 8RT. The Commission accepts the Controller of Audit’s report on Argyll and Bute Council. They welcomed the progress made by the council, highlighting: • the significantly improved relationships amongst elected members and between members and officers, which provide a sound basis for ackling future challenges • the council’s sound approach to financial planning and budgeting which has allowed it to achieve financial balance in the short term The commission also identified areas for the council to focus its continued improvement such as: • how it manages and reports performance • delivering more significant transformation and redesign of services and urges the council to increase pace and depth of improvement, making more use of the potential to engage and empower local communities. The Council welcomed the findings and agreed the content of the Action Plan which sets out how the Council will implement the recommendations of the report.
